The purpose of the group is to discuss all aspects of family history, to learn from each other's experiences and to utilise the various resources available for researching one's ancestry. We meet in the Matlock Local Studies Library, which has a wealth of information available as well as internet access to the many on-line genealogical databases, and part of each meeting is usually led by one of our members with particular experience in using one of the resources available in the Library. Each meeting will also spend some time discussing a particular topic, as shown in the programme below.

Each member is encouraged to bring details of some unusual fact that they have discovered to each meeting.

The group's coordinator is Trevor Boam, who can be contacted by email by clicking on his name.

The Family History Group meets in the Local Studies Library, Bank Road, Matlock on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. except when otherwise detailed below.

There is usually no charge to attend meetings; refreshments are available in the library's café, if required, during the mid-session coffee/tea break.

Potential new members should contact the coordinator, Trevor Boam, as recent meetings have been approaching the maximum capacity of the meeting location.
