We continue to attract new members and each outing in 2018 had 10-17 members enjoying the countryside, bird reserves and our lovely British birds. At Christmas we walked along the Derwent to find the many Mandarin ducks and nuthatches, then enjoyed a superb lunch at The Riverside in Ashford-in-the-Water.
We meet monthly, usually on the first Tuesday of the month, except in August when the birds are staying hidden as they grow new feathers (Please note January and February exceptions this year).
We share transport and for most months don't go further than an hour's drive from Matlock. In the early summer we may go further afield to places such as Bempton Cliffs or Rutland water and sometimes stay overnight and have dinner together. This year we are planning to go to the Wash.
Each month, the person responsible for the outing will send out details a week in advance and you just need to let them know if you are going to be there. Knowledge is shared eagerly and there is no need to have anything other than an interest in birds to take part.
